Preparations and Expectations for the Bozen Bartholomew Market

Botzen, Sept. 3. Our autumn fair, the so-called Bartholomäi-Markt, is now approaching, and to all appearances there is already well-founded hope that it will be very well attended, as several Austrian merchants from the most important provinces of the Monarchy have already arrived here in recent days, assuring that many more will follow. Indeed, new stocks of domestic goods of all kinds arrive here daily in large quantities, and the Italian buyers who visit our market will find a large selection for their needs, whether luxury items or articles of prime necessity. The influx of foreign buyers will hopefully be all the greater as, through the wise and benevolent measures of our high government for domestic trade, all those difficulties have been removed which might cause even the slightest concern regarding the shipment of these domestic items to the Lombardo-Venetian Kingdom.
