Statistics on the Population and Area of Tyrol and Vorarlberg in 1819
A statistical overview for the year 1819 records a total population of 733,083 inhabitants for Tyrol and Vorarlberg, alongside their distribution across individual districts. Despite unfavorable circumstances, the population increased slightly over eleven years, with a notable female majority. Additionally, it is announced that weather observations from Trento will be published regularly starting with the next issue.

Statistics.
According to the land courts, the total number of inhabitants in Tyrol and Vorarlberg in the year 1819 was 733,083, namely 354,139 male and 377,943 female. Vorarlberg accounts for 81,966 of these individuals. If one compares the total number with that given for Tyrol as of September 30, 1808, at 618,893 – omitting the inhabitants of Vorarlberg and the newly added court districts of Zell am Ziller, Hopfgarten, and Windisch-Matrey –, it emerges that despite all circumstances over the past years that unfavorably influenced the population, it nevertheless increased in 11 years by 6,149, nearly by one hundredth. (The military was not included). Furthermore, the majority of the female sex is noteworthy, amounting to 23,804 persons in these lands. – Tyrol and Vorarlberg, according to their current boundaries, cover an area of 519 37/100 sq. miles, of which District I. Roveredo contains 34 24/100, II. Trient 78 6/100, III. (Etsch) Bozen 60 72/100, IV. (Pusterthal) Bruneck 103 5/10, V. (Unterinnthal) Schwatz 91 54/100, VI. (Oberinnthal) Imst 106 84/100, and VII. (Vorarlberg) Bregenz 44 5/10 sq. miles. Assuming the population were distributed uniformly across all districts, there would be an average of 1,410 people per sq. mile. According to the actual population of 1819, the districts rank as follows: Roveredo 3723. Trient 3005. Bregenz 1840. Bozen 1653. Schwatz 1306. Bruneck 931. Imst 798. The geographical extent was compiled according to the map of Anich and the Royal Bavarian Government Gazettes.
