1870–1879

The 1870s marked a phase of transition and tourism development for Merano, significantly shaped by prominent guests such as Empress Elisabeth at Trauttmansdorff Castle. At the same time, the community concluded a defining era of its local history with the departure of long-serving former mayor Josef Valentin Haller. These developments laid the groundwork for the further expansion of the spa industry in the region.
